So this is the race format for the Tri-relay weekend. August Bank Holiday.
If you are up for it let me (Stuart Blagborough) know as I need to book teams.
Your club membership covers the cost and the weekend is a different way to race or even just try and open water event.

Teams of 4 – get a team of 4 together, be it friends, workmates or triclub friends!
You get breaks! Each team member will individually complete each section (swim / bike / run) before you all move on to the next discipline, meaning you get a nice break in between to rest and eat!

The original venue for this years English Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships was to be St Neots in Cambridgeshire, this was changed only a week before to Grafham Water (another nearby ‘Nice Tr’i venue) due rain making the venue unsuitable. The good news is both venues allowed on-site camping which is always good when you have an early start.
Rhonda and I arrived on Saturday afternoon and although we didn’t have any club mates to share the experience with we were pleasantly surprised when some old friends from Tadcaster rolled in in their campervan.
The race was also a World Championship qualification event so attracted a top-notch-field. The numbers competing (able to compete!) in each group reduce as we get older but even in my […]
‘Midsummer Madness, the Gaddings Acquathon is planned for 21st June – two laps round Gaddings with a run to Stoodley Pike. It’s members only so make sure you have paid your subs! More details, coming soon!
Driving over to Clitheroe early on Sunday morning the car vdu was showing an outside temperature of -1C! The fresh snow on the hill tops on the road to Burnley made me wonder what it was going to be like at the summit of the infamous Jeffery Hill. The only club members brave enough or daft enough to tackle a triathlon with a 27% hill on the bike leg were Simon Fox and Graham Plews. Simon and Graham both set off after 11am bye which time the temperature had warmed up nicely. Simon had a slightly later swim start so was chasing Graham for 11 minutes…would he catch him? After the 400m swim Simon had already taken a minute out of his club mate and adversary. The hilly and technical 30Km bike leg turned this deficit around giving Graham […]
Intrepid CTC members Fiona Christian & Andy Lynex recently travelled to Tasmania, along with their bikes. The plan was initially to enjoy some early season long rides to try and get into some sort of shape after a winter of mostly turbo training in the UK.
Midway into their holiday, cycling in the beautiful Freycinet National Park, they came across an advert highlighting a local triathlon taking place on their last day in the area, the Coles Bay Triathlon – such a coincidence! There was a middle distance and a sprint….so they opted for the sprint, Fiona defends her decision saying, ‘we had no kit, we hadn’t been out riding more than 60km all winter and it was 30 degrees heat’.
They managed to register just one hour before registrations closed […]
We had a strong attendance for the Annual Race Debate review which was held at the Hare and Hounds on 5th February. It seems that many members have already confirmed their racing plans for 2016 and whilst our two Elite ‘Age Groupers’ Graham Plews and Sarah May are coming back from injury, we are well represented in a variety of races for 2016.
Going ‘long’ in 2016 are Carl Dawson who is doing the Outlaw in July and Stuart Blagborough who following his successes previously in Mexico and Bolton (a man of contrasts!) is undertaking the Lakesman in July.
Our international representation is also strong with Simon & Caroline Fox heading to Norway for the Ironman 70.3 course and our very own Legend, Colin Brooke will be completing the Alpe d’Huez in July.
There is a sizeable group who will be doing the Leeds WTS course on the 12th June. This one is […]
